Week 20: Photographer’s Choice #2

This girl, this sparkly little firecracker, born 9 weeks early and weighing less than 3 pounds, is finally FOUR YEARS OLD, she’ll tell you, holding up four fingers with dextrous precision, clearly practiced. PAW PATROL, she said, when I asked her what kind of cake she’d like. While she’s been becoming her, I have been becoming me too, in lots of ways. Four years is a long time; her whole life and my mid-late twenties. Yikes. I love her so much. We all do. Can you tell?…

How could I have free choice and not choose the cutest pup around? This is Ziggy warily eyeing the camera, she better get used to it because she’s going to see plenty of it.

Stylish Saturdays.

This week I had an idea for my shot, but no idea how to execute it – until, that is, the photo shoot today when I got to work with Chase (dancer, model, actor). I saw an opportunity and he was more than willing to help me out.

Photographer’s choice for me is about showing something of what I’m doing in this creative medium; how I’m progressing, what I’m learning, and where I might be going. So this is perhaps a slightly risky choice, but it’s the right one I think. You see, I’ve started photographing people recently. It’s something I always wanted to do, but my natural shyness and reservedness makes it tricky. But I’m getting over that discomfort. And through that process, I’m learning new things about photography, and I guess about myself too. And it’s been a while since I’ve felt so excited about where this camera-related journey might go, and what challenges might still lie ahead. So for now, I’m reaching, stretching, learning…

Next week…

Our week 21 theme is: Play.
